Responsible Gambling

Betting on MahadevBook should be something you do for entertainment with money you can afford to lose. This page explains the controls built into your account, what each one actually does, and how to get help.
1. The one thing to be clear about
Over time, betting costs money. The odds are set so that the house keeps a margin on every market, which means the longer you play the more likely it is that you are down overall. A winning week does not change that, and no system, pattern or streak changes it either.
That is fine if you treat it as paid entertainment, the way you treat a cinema ticket. It stops being fine the moment you are betting to win money back, betting money you needed for something else, or betting to stop yourself thinking about something.
2. Signs worth taking seriously
- You bet more than you planned to, most times you play.
- You chase losses: after losing, you increase stakes to get back to even.
- You have borrowed money, used a credit line, or sold something to fund betting.
- You hide how much you bet from your family, or lie about a loss.
- You bet during work, at night instead of sleeping, or cancel other plans to keep playing.
- You feel restless or irritable when you cannot bet, or relief only while a bet is running.
- Your deposits have quietly grown month on month. Check your transaction history, which shows the real figure rather than the one you remember.
If two or more of these are true for you, use the controls in section 3 today rather than after the next bet.
3. The controls on your account
All four are in Settings, under the Responsible tab. They apply immediately, they are free, and you do not have to explain yourself to anyone to use them.
Daily deposit limit
The most you can deposit in any 24 hour window. Once you reach it, further deposits are refused until the window has passed. Set it to the number you are comfortable losing, not to the number you can just about manage.
Leave the field blank or enter 0 to remove the limit. Removing it takes effect on your account, so set the limit at the level you want now rather than relying on being able to hold the line later.
Daily loss limit
A cap on your net loss across all games in any 24 hour window. Losses and wins are counted together, so a win during the window pushes your net loss back down.
When you reach the cap, new bets are blocked. The block stays until 24 hours have passed since your first losing bet in that window. Bets already running are not touched and settle normally.
This is the single most useful control for anyone who chases losses, because it stops the session at a number you chose while you were calm.
Leave blank or enter 0 to remove it.
Cool-off: a short break
Choose 1 hour, 6 hours or 24 hours. You are signed out immediately and cannot sign back in or place a bet until it expires. When it expires, access returns automatically. You do not need to contact us.
Use it when you notice you are playing on tilt. An hour away is often enough to end a session that was going to get expensive.
Self-exclusion: a real block
Choose 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or permanent. You are signed out immediately and sign-in is blocked for the whole period.
This is stronger than a cool-off in one important way: only an administrator can lift it. You cannot undo it from your own account, and asking support to remove it early is not a route we offer. Choose the length you mean.
An existing exclusion is never shortened. If you are already out for 30 days and then choose 1 day, you stay out for the original 30.
The full detail, including what happens to your balance and open bets, is in the Exclusion Policy.
If you are deciding between a cool-off and self-exclusion and you are not sure, take the self-exclusion. A break you can cancel in ten minutes is not a break.
4. Habits that actually help
- Set the limits before you need them. Deciding a number after a losing run is deciding it at the worst possible moment.
- Treat the deposit as the cost. Money in your wallet has already been spent. Count winnings only when they reach your bank account.
- Never bet borrowed money, including from a credit line, an app loan, or a friend.
- Do not chase. The bet placed to recover a loss is almost always bigger and worse considered than the one that caused it.
- Fix a time, not just an amount. Long sessions cost more than large stakes for most people.
- Do not bet while drunk, very tired, or upset.
- Read your own numbers. Your profit and loss page shows what has actually happened rather than what you remember happening. Look at it monthly.
- Keep other things in the week. If betting is the only thing you look forward to, the problem is not the stake size.
5. Under 18s
You must be 18 or over to hold an account. We hold a date of birth on every account and we may ask for proof of it. An account found to belong to someone under 18 is closed.
If you share a device with children or anyone else in the household, sign out when you finish, do not save the password in a shared browser, and keep payment apps locked. Parental control and content filtering software on the device is worth setting up if a minor uses it.
6. If you are worried about someone else
We cannot discuss or close another person's account for them: the controls in section 3 belong to the account holder. What we can do is act on a credible report that an account belongs to a minor, or that it is being used with someone else's money or payment details.
The more useful thing you can do is get the person to open Settings themselves and set a loss limit or a self-exclusion while you are with them. It takes under a minute and it does not need our involvement.
7. Getting help
Gambling harm is treatable and talking to someone helps more than most people expect. In India, AASRA operates a 24 hour helpline on 1800-599-0019. It is free and confidential. Your own doctor is also a reasonable first step, and counselling for gambling harm is available through mental health services.
If money has become the urgent problem, speak to your bank about blocking gambling transactions on your account. Many banks and payment apps can do this, and it works on every site rather than just this one.
8. What we do on our side
- We enforce the limits you set. A deposit above your deposit limit is refused and a bet after your loss limit is blocked, whatever you say to support at the time.
- We do not offer to remove a self-exclusion early, and we do not market to accounts that are excluded.
- We check age and identity, and we close accounts that turn out to belong to minors.
- We may apply a limit, restrict deposits, or close an account ourselves where the pattern of play suggests harm, even if you have not asked us to.
- We will not lend you money, extend credit, or advance a bet against a pending deposit.
